Nom de famille rencontré surtout dans l'Ille-et-Vilaine. Pourrait désigner celui qui est originaire du hameau du Boussin dans la commune du Buret (53), mais rien ne dit que le toponyme ne soit pas issu du nom de famille. À envisager un nom de personne d'origine germanique (Bosin, racine boso = mauvais, méchant), ou encore le surnom d'un bossu (sens possible pour le nom Bossin, porté dans l'Indre-et-Loire).
